3000 Participants Join Amman International Marathon under the King Hussein Cancer Foundation’s Name
The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) participated in the first Amman International Marathon on 17 October 2009. Over 3000 participants ran or walked in the Marathon under the name of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, headed by HRH Princess Ghida Talal and HRH Princess Dina Mired. Thus, reflecting the vision of the Foundation to call upon all members of society to join the fight against cancer.

KHCF and KHCC Hold Bone Marrow Transplant Survivorship Day
KHCC and KHCF held a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Survivorship Day on 10 December, 2009 in honor of all KHCC patients who have undergone this difficult procedure and survived. Held under the patronage of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, the event was attended by HRH Princess Dina Mired and Doctor Mahmoud Sarhan.

KHCF Flag Raised on the Summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro
On September 10, 2010, Nizar Fakhoury, avid outdoorsman and King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) supporter, began his journey to Tanzania in Africa with the goal of reaching the summit of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain; Mt. Kilimanjaro. Joined in his quest by several of his friends, Fakhoury formed the Climb for Cancer team which aimed not only to reach the towering peak but to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for two young cancer patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) as well.

Princess Dina Mired Delivers Speech at World Cancer Leaders’ Summit
A delegation from the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center, led by HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of KHCF, participated in the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) Conference in Shenzhen, the People’s Republic of China from August 18 – 21, 2010. Members of the SANAD, MAAK and BMT cancer support groups will be sharing their stories today with patients and families at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), as part of the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s (LAF) LiveStrong Day. CHICAGO, IL – Mrs. Maggie Daley and Todd Murray, president of Beltone Electronics, welcomed H.R.H. Princess Ghida Talal and H.R.H. Princess Dina Mired of Jordan to Chicago on Thursday, October 4. Beltone partnered with the Amman Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International Program (CSCIP) to donate 100 Beltone Mira Open hearings aids, worth more than $200,000, to the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan, one of Chicago’s 27 Sister Cities. The hearing aids will benefit children who are hearing impaired as a result of chemotherapy.

Jordan Launch of US-Middle East Partnership

Amman, Jordan – Jordan witnessed today the launch of the U.S.-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. The partners in the launch are the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the King Hussein Cancer Center on one hand and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center on the other hand. HM King Abdullah inaugurates Khalid Shoman Nuclear Medicine Department at King Hussein Cancer Center

Amman – His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday inaugurated the Khalid Shoman Nuclear Medicine Department at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). The purchase of a PET/CT scan machine, the first of its kind in Jordan, was fundamental in transforming the Nuclear Medicine Unit into a comprehensive Nuclear Medicine Department as part of KHCC’s commitment to providing comprehensive cancer care to its patients. The family of the Late Khalid Shoman made a large contribution towards the purchase of this life saving machine which will treat cancer patients from Jordan and the region.

Sharing Experiences, Fighting Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is one of the top causes of death for many women in Jordan. In light of this, a discussion took place in the Queen Zein Al Sherif Institute for Development (ZENID) focusing on breast cancer and the social issues faced by Jordanian women in this regard. The event was one of the activities associated with the launch of the "US-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research" that came as a direct response to calls from women in the Middle East who are leading the fight against breast cancer.
