Is there a high rate of cancer in Jordan and the Arab World?
+
By 2020 there will be over 360,000 new cancer cases in the Arab world each year. Over half the countries in the Middle East are considered low-to-middle-income countries, and as such are part of the developing world, which struggles with a lack of resources when it comes to cancer care. Most countries in the Middle East – both rich and poor-struggle with the same issues as other developing countries with regards to cancer, and are each at different stages of cancer control. Jordan is burdened with 5000 new cancer cases annually and continuously receives patients from the region seeking top quality care treatment at KHCC which they cannot find anywhere else in the region. Currently, the Center is being stretched to its limits and working at full capacity in order to absorb the rising number of patients and refugees it is receiving from the war inflicted neighboring countries.

What makes the King Hussein Cancer Center different from other cancer hospitals?
+
The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) treats all types of cancers and caters to patients of all ages. To date, it is the only center in the developing world to have earned accreditation from the Joint Commission International for its oncology care program. In addition, KHCC is the only center in Jordan to adopt a multidisciplinary team approach in oncology treatment. This means that not just one, but an entire team of doctors that specialize in the patient’s particular disease treat the patient. We also have dedicated support teams to assist our patients and to provide them with the most comprehensive care possible. We understand that cancer is an emotional disease that can take its toll on our patients and their families. Besides treatment, we offer physical therapy and nutritionalpsychological and spiritual support to ensure that our patients are looked after regarding every aspect of their care

How many patients a year does the King Hussein Cancer Center treat?
+
The King Hussein Cancer Center treats more than 3,500 inpatients a year and receives more than 100,000 outpatient visits a year. However, as more and more families count on KHCC for top quality cancer care that they cannot find anywhere else in the region, the Center is currently being stretched to its limits and working at full capacity. In order to absorb the rising number of patients, KHCC urgently needs to expand. You can read more about the new expansion in section Sustaining and Advancing Medical Excellence of this website

Where is the King Hussein Cancer Center located?
+
The King Hussein Cancer Center is located in the heart of Amman, Jordan.

Will I receive verification of my donations for tax purposes?
+
Yes, each donor is entitled to receive a donor gift receipt upon completion of their donation.

Can I organize an event in the United States to raise funds for cancer patients at KHCC?
+
Yes of course, we encourage our supporters to organize their own friends and family fundraising events and initiatives wherever they may raise funds to help our cancer patients. If you have a specific idea in mind, please fill out our fundraising form or contact us at info@khcfusa.org or idd@khcf.jo, and we can provide you with examples of successful fundraising events that our supporters have held in the past that you can adapt for your own purposes.
